Carry and communication tools
| Tool | What it does | Carry it when… |
|---|---|---|
| Walkie-talkie | Carries voice or text over long distances | The group splits for a remote button or scouting route |
| Waist bag | Adds a small-item slot | You want communication gear without losing your main hand |
| Backpack | Adds a full item slot | Someone is responsible for keys, rewards or larger equipment |
| Flare gun | Gives separated players a visible rescue signal | A scout may get lost |
| Paintbrush | Leaves marks and simple visual notes | The group needs a trail or shared shorthand |
| Laser pointer | Points to a distant visible target | Nearby players need silent, precise direction |

Navigation and scouting
- Portable map: shows your position and helps interpret coordinates.
- Large Map Room map: tracks challenge and reward status but cannot be carried.
- Compass: points north for reliable verbal directions.
- Binoculars: inspect distant landmarks before committing to a long route.
- Telescope: a fixed scouting device that can reveal or activate distant puzzle information.
- GPS: shows precise coordinates and can be attached to a player's backpack.
Light and sound
A portable lamp makes night travel safer and easier to coordinate. Radios, megaphones and sound devices are not decorative: Big Walk uses sound direction, distance and transmission as puzzle rules. Test an unfamiliar item before abandoning it.
Inventory strategy
Do not give every player the same loadout. A small party usually benefits from one navigator, one progression-object carrier and redundant long-range communication. Leave a spare hand available because many challenges introduce a physical object midway through the solution.
