Big Walk Purple Gourds: What the Purple Things Do
A spoiler-controlled explanation of the purple rewards, where they go, and whether they are required for the main ending.
What are they?
Players use many names for the collectible objects: gourds, nubbins, eggs, beans, statues and even kumquats. The purple versions are tied to the optional puzzles that open after the main path.
Are they required for the ending?
They are not required for the basic main-game completion. Collect them when aiming for the additional purple challenges and full completion.
A practical cleanup plan
Finish the normal tower route first, then return to the Map Room and compare its remaining markers with your group’s notes. Give every purple reward to one named carrier, bank it before starting the next challenge, and mark the corresponding puzzle complete. This prevents a group from solving the right puzzle but forgetting where the physical reward was left.
Red rewards versus purple rewards
Red pieces advance the normal receivers and colored tower route. Purple objects belong to the later completion layer, so finding one does not mean a colored tower is missing a slot. Keep the two cleanup lists separate.
If a solved purple challenge still appears unfinished, return to the exact reward location before repeating the solution. The group may have triggered the puzzle but left its physical object behind, especially after splitting up or ending a session quickly.
