Big Walk Crossplay, Player Count and Best Group Size
The accurate 2–12 player limit, cross-platform support, world-size setting and what changes when your party gets larger or smaller.

How many players can play?
The official range is two to twelve. There is no proper single-player campaign; a lone player can enter the world and look around but will quickly reach challenges that require cooperation.
What does the world-size choice mean?
When hosting, choose a 2-player, 3-player or 4+ version of the world. Some challenges adapt to that selection. Treat it as the minimum number you expect to have available. If four people start but only two reliably return, choosing the 2-player world prevents the continuing group from being blocked.

What is the best group size?
House House does not name one ideal size. In practice:
| Group | Experience |
|---|---|
| 2 | Focused, intimate and easiest to schedule; every person carries responsibility. |
| 3–4 | A strong balance for puzzle roles, carrying tools and clear communication. |
| 5–8 | Faster scouting and more flexibility, with a greater need to assign roles. |
| 9–12 | A deliberately chaotic social walk; coordination becomes the challenge. |
Does Big Walk have crossplay?
Yes. Supported platforms can play together through Join Codes. Big Walk is available on Windows and Mac, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The official FAQ says no other platforms are planned at present.
Is there split-screen or local couch co-op?
No. House House confirmed after release that Big Walk does not have local co-op. Several challenges depend on one player not hearing or seeing information available to another, so a shared screen would break their central idea. Two people in the same home can play with separate systems, preferably in separate rooms.
Crossplay setup in one minute
- Turn Crossplay on in Big Walk settings.
- Let the chosen host load into the world.
- Share the active Join Code from Session Details.
- If joining fails, compare the first two version numbers and synchronize every device clock.
The host keeps the save, regardless of platform. Choose the person most likely to return for future sessions.
