The useful answer
Two to four players is easiest to coordinate; five to twelve creates more social chaos. Pick the world for the smallest reliable group, not the largest launch-day attendance.

Step by step
- Choose focus or chaos before creating the save.
- Count the people likely to return next session.
- Select 2, 3 or 4+ based on that minimum.
Why players get stuck here
A large lobby adds hands but also makes voice overlap, item ownership and regrouping harder.
Pick by the group you can actually keep together
| Returning players | Recommended world | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 2-player | Focused roles and easiest scheduling |
| 3 | 3-player | More communication chains without a crowded lobby |
| 4 or more | 4+ | More simultaneous roles and more regrouping |
The world setting changes challenge requirements; it does not cap the lobby. A 2-player world can still accept additional friends up to the 12-player session limit.
Verify it before moving on
Before inviting everyone, agree on the host, world size, voice or text preference and the next session time. Those four details prevent most groups from losing progress or creating a world they cannot continue.
